Babyrest Junior Pillow comparison: How to choose the right pillow for your child

As a new parent, where do you begin when it comes to sleeping support for your child? You've come to the right place - let our pillow experts guide you through the process to choose the best fit for your needs.

40 years ago, an inspired mother developed a range of basic nursery bedding products. One of the very first products was a flat pillow, which offered the right amount of neck support and comfort for babies and toddlers. This design later gained repute after being recommended by local pediatricians. This initial concept set the basis for our current range of Junior Pillows.

Before we dig into the difference pillows available, you should know that each one of our Junior Pillows are made right here in Australia and include these features:
  • Firm foam core treated with PermaGuard® (protects from allergy-related microbes, dust mites and bacteria). The firm core provides the right amount of support for your baby’s head and neck to ensure correct spinal development.
  • Layer of bonded polyester to provide comfort
  • Fabric cover made from natural fibers
  • Dimensions: 56 x 33cm, 4cm thick

Here’s an overview of the different options you can choose between:

Support

Firm Core: Polyurethane Foam

Comfort Layer: Bonded Polyester

Cover: 100% Cotton

Ventilated

Firm Core: Polyurethane Foam with ventilation channels

    Comfort Layer: Bonded Polyester

    Cover: 100% Cotton

A ventilated core has three key benefits for the health and safety of your baby:

    • Breathability: allowing more airflow
    • Hygiene: air flowing through the pillow keeps the materials fresh and hygienic
    • Temperature regulation: air flowing through the pillow helps maintain temperature and avoid accumulation of heat while your baby is sleeping. There is evidence to suggest there is a link between heat accumulation and Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI), so it is important that the sleeping surface for your baby maintains a comfortable temperature.

    Ventilated + Bamboo

Firm Core: Polyurethane Foam with ventilation channels

    Comfort Layer: Bonded Polyester

Cover: 32% Bamboo Viscose, 68% Polyester

In addition to the benefits of a ventilated core, this pillow also has the benefits of a bamboo cover. Bamboo is more sensitive to skin, offers more ventilation with microscopic holes in bamboo fibres, which also has better temperature regulation. This can offer a more breathable sleeping environment and regulated body temperature. It’s more durable, is luxurious and of course it’s also sustainable and eco-friendly.
